Concordia plotting with python jupyter notebook

Really loving the new database option in Iolite4. So easy to export all your data into a csv and play with it using python. Checking stuff like baseline and reference material performance through time is so much easier now, or keeping track of total amount of sample analysis done each month.

However, I suck in math, and wondered if there is anyone out there who uses jupyter notebook and have code for concordia plotting that they want to share?

Hey @geologyhero ,
Did you see that there is a concordia plot script included with the Database? If you click and hold on the Scripts button at the bottom, there are a few builtin scripts there.

You can also use these as templates for building your own.

I know this isn't in a Jupyter Notebook, but perhaps you could take the relevant parts from the script and adapt it?

Hi Bence! Thanks for the tip. Running that script is so easy so I won't need to do it myself in jupyter notebook. However, I am not getting anything plotted when I check the box for concordia age, no error popping up either.

If you open the python console (Tools -> Python Console), do you see any error messages, or any other info that might point us in the right direction?

It seems on windows that we are not distributing the uncertainties python package. That is easily fixed for the next release. However, it isn't actually used there despite being imported. If you don't want to wait for a release you have two options to fix it:

Open the the file "C:/Users/lpe061.UIB/Dropbox/GEOLOGI/TEKNISK/LA-ICP-MS/Iolite4 RM and python scripts/Scripts/Database/concordia.py" in a plain text editor, find the "from uncertainties import ufloat" lines and remove or comment (preceding #) them out. Restart iolite and try again.
Download the uncertainties "wheel" file from: https://pypi.org/project/uncertainties/#files. Change the extension from .whl to .zip, extract it, and copy the "uncertainties" folder to iolite's python site-packages. Restart iolite and try again.

If you're not comfortable with either of those options, send an email to support and I'll send you the edited script to try.
