Hey guys,

Something was just brought up to me and I hadn't noticed until now. We usually label our samples and laser logs sequentially e.g.: PLag_1, Plag_2 etc.
However one lab user noticed that in v3 when he made automatic selections Iolite would add a sequential number to selections of identical name within a group, so he didn't label his spots with the sequence number. He tells me that he can't do the same on v4. I know that we can edit the selection label one by one to add the sequence number, but is there a way to automatically labels selections within a group?

Hi Vitor,

This can be accomplished with a couple lines of python as follows:

for si, s in enumerate(data.selectionGroup('GroupName').selections()):
    s.name = '%s - %i'%(s.name, si + 1)
