A paper by Mulder et al. has just been published in GGR. It includes the rationale and use of the Sr_Isotopes_Universal DRS.

Hi bence, nice new DRS! I was looking for more info on how to identify/handle the possible CaPO interference when analysing apatites. I couldn't really extract your ideas by inspecting the code, and there is not much explanation in the text itself. Could you quickly explain what approach you're taking? In my own testing I was never able to clearly distinguish between REE and possible CaPO interferences on mass 87.

Hi Kai,

Just very briefly, the correction plots deviation from accepted 87/86 value vs Sr signal. A fit to this is then calculated and the deviation is subtracted. It's actually quite a blunt instrument in that it is not mass specific: any correlation between Sr signal will be corrected.

It does require a few secondary standards of different Sr content (or at least with some variation within the standard) to generate the curve, but quite basic.

OK great. When I plotted all our available apatite stds vs their accepted 87/86 the data looked more like shotgun, no clear correlation with either [REE] or [Sr] and I abandoned the project 🙁 I guess success may depend on the specific piece of std apatite that you find in your lab; they may be heterogeneous. Would be excellent to hear from other labs/standard sets.
