small gray exclamation points in Time Series view

Hi folks, I'm just wondering what these exclamation points mean in the Time Series view. I don't seem to be able to interact with them.

Hi Nicole,

Those are selection warnings. I think in this case they're warning you that there are very few points for those baseline selections. If you go to the Selections Browser, you'll be able to see more info about these warnings.

Hi Bence, thanks for the selection checker info... but this seems to be something different. The selection checker identifies some of my selections which have been sliced into 1 second increments with the yellow exclamation which makes sense because they have only 3-4 data points, which I don't think is a problem, but the pale gray exclamations are not showing up in the selection checker. The gray ones only appear beside some of my baseline selections on some channels (but not all, only low abundance channels I think) when I apply a mask in the 3d TE DRS. If I remove the mask, the gray exclamations disappear. Any idea what that could be about? I could just not use the mask, but I'd like to understand what they are trying to tell me.

Hi Nicole,

My apologies: I sent you in the wrong direction with the selection checker info. These exclamation marks are just to let you know that there are no data for this channel during this selection. This is why you'd see this for baseline selections when masking is applied.
It's not an error, it's just to indicate that no data are available but also where the selections are in time, even if they have no data.

OK, thanks, that makes sense... does that mean I shouldn't use masking since it's blocking out my baselines?

No, it just means that there are no results for intermediate and output channels for your baseline selections. This is how it is intended to work: your baseline selections are just to create baseline splines which are then used in the baseline subtraction process. After that, you don't need to calculate ratio channel etc values for your baseline selections, and masking just makes this impossible anyway.

So, short version: this is entirely expected behaviour and you don't need to worry about it.
