Using internal standards on imaging data

Hi Everyone,

I have imaging data of a polymineralic sample using TOF-LA-ICP-MS set at a resolution of 2 microns.

I want to make the data quantitative. I have discrete points measured by quantitative SEM-EDS which I want to use as internal standards to make the laser data quantitative. The issue is that I do now know how to do that on imaging data as I have 500 lines of laser measurements with each line encountering different minerals. Is there a way to select a group of measurements (or mineral) on the imaging tab, and to standardise it against measurements made by SEM-EDS? This way, I could select all pyrite using Cu for example and standardise it against the measurements from the SEM-EDS.

Help would be very much appreciated.

It sounds like you're after the "criterion approach" developed by Joe and Dany Savard? It is briefly described in our recent 3D Trace Elements paper and in Dany's more focused paper. We also briefly mention it in our 3D Trace Elements webinar (starting at about the 52 min mark).

This approach is still pretty new and not many folks are using it yet, so please let us know if you come across any issues.
