Laser shot numbers in exported file

Hi!

Is there a way to get the numbering system (shot number) from the laser log as a column in the exported data (e.g. the plasmage U-Pb zircon script)? This is just to make it easier to link it to a shot location without writing unique names for all my 1000 shots.

Normally iolite deals with the mass spec measurements rather than individual shots as there may not be a measurement for each laser shot, the exclusions there being LIBS data and some new data formats we're working on at the moment where every laser shot is logged.

iolite keeps trap of when the laser switches on and what the rep rate and scan rates etc are. You could use this to assign laser shot numbers, but this might not coincide with the mass spec measurements exported by iolite.

Can you provide some more detail about your setup? It might be as simple as adding a calculated value to an export script.

I see! Thanks for the explanation. For Geostar it is just a column called " Sequence Number", and it correspond to the row where the "Comment" containing the sample/standard name would be.

I found somewhat of solution in Geostar, using the [#a], to append the sequence number into the comment where the sample name is, but it was not great for standards as it was then difficult to do automatic distribution of standards since they were all in separate groups due to the added number in the comment.

Would be great if it was just another meta data column collected in Iolite from the laser log.

Oh, so this is like the "pattern number"... basically the spot if a spot analysis experiment, or the line number if a line analysis experiment etc? It's not the actual laser pulse counter?

If so, we could definitely add that as metadata to each sample.
