Bugs and Suggestions

I don't see a specific tab for posting bugs or feature suggestions. But I've been keeping a list. If I come up with more I can reply on this post again.

Bugs:
-if you select “show data sample labels” in time series view, then close and reopen the file, the box for “show data sample labels” will still be checked but the labels will not display. This forces the user to uncheck and recheck the box each time they open and close the program in order to get the labels to display.

Suggestions:
-In heatmap selector, when the logarithm of 0 counts is taken, common for backgrounds, it returns the same color as the highest signal. It’s visually confusing when the signal peak and the background have the same color.
-if you highlight a selection, it would be useful to see stats for the selection pop up: mean and standard deviation, for example. Or even the duration of the selection.
-be able to manipulate the draw order of signals on time series, so that you can choose which signals are drawn on top of other signals in the timeseries view
-be able to reorder groups or selections in the timeseries. Being able to reorder by time or alphabetical order would be useful.

Can I pitch one small one? Being able to change the color of specific regions of interest, rather than just polygons en mass. Thank you!

Bug:

In the Export tab, when you are selecting channels for export, the selector will give you a hard time when exporting channel ratios and individual channels.

For example, if you go to intermediate channels and select something like Cu_63_CPS/Ba_135_CPS, and then select Ba_135_CPS, the new instance of Ba_135_CPS will not appear and also not appear in the export file:

See how Ba_135_CPS does not appear despite being checked?

Interestingly, order matters, so if I select Ba_135_CPS first, and then Cu_63_CPS/Ba_135_CPS then both channels do appear:

Obviously this is replicateable with any channels and ratios, not just the particular ones in the example.

Just to give you an update, I've fixed some of the bugs in this list, but we have some bigger backend changes making their way through in the next release, so we're trying to ensure that goes smoothly before the release.

I'll post back here when the release with these fixes is available.

We've just released iolite v4.11 that has many of the fixes you suggested including:

Fix for heatmap selector
Added stats to popup that appears when a selection is highlighted (press the A key to show)
Can now edit the draw order of channels in the time-series view (right click on the channel to adjust its drawing order)
Can now change the color of ROIs in Imaging view (right click on the ROI to select the color)
Fixed the issue with selecting channels for export

Sorry it's taken us a little while to get these out. As you'll see from the Release Notes, this was a big release for us (creating a new Apple Silicon build, updating all the underlying tech, etc).

If you have any other suggestions, please let us know.

Thanks SO MUCH!!!!

On the stats popup, I realized that "hover stats" already contains much of the functionality that I requested. Maybe something else to add to make hover stats even better would be an option in hover stats to automatically display the statistics from the currently selected channel in timeseries, rather than have the user be forced to choose the channel from the dropdown menu.
